Lindsey’s Senior Session – Houston Portrait Photography

Man… It’s been awhile with the updating!  Let’s see.  Since the last post I’ve gotten married, flown overseas for the first time, moved into a super cute apartment. It’s been an exciting time in my life and hence… No photo sessions and no posts.  :-(

When Lindsey called me about a session, I was very excited.  First of all, I’ve missed doing sessions over the last few months and was excited to stretch the little creative part of my brain.  Secondly, Lindsey is so stinkin’ cute!  You’ll see what I mean…

I mean, look at these big brown eyes!

Thanks, Lindsey, for thinking of me to do your senior session!  Good luck with the next exciting phase of your life!

Love,

Rachel

Clingan Family Portrait Session

I always love the opportunity to photograph a family.  The Clingans are a great family that my fiancé grew up with at Bethany Christian Church (where we are getting married in less than FOUR MONTHS!).  I really enjoyed getting to walk around and chat with them.  Along the way we got some pretty awesome photographs in my humble opinion!

I asked them to give me their best GQ face.  This is what I got…

And thank you, Sarah, for helping out with the session.  You’re the bestest!

Jason + Kristin = Married!

Man, I’m a little behind on getting some of these photos out the door!  I’ve known Jason and Kristin for a while now through church.  You can see a family portrait session that we did last year here!  They are great people and had an awesome wedding!  If you would like to see all the photos, please meander on to the GALLERY.

Venue – House Plantation
Dress – Weddings by Debbie
Florist – Arteflora
Band – Drywater Band
Catering – World Cakes and Catering

The bride getting some stuff together.

Some details…

The rings!

The dress!

I got a lot of great photos of Kristin getting ready.  This one just happens to be my favorite because her eyes are HUGE!

Checkin’ herself out.

Jason and Julian.

Some of the beautiful centerpieces!

Kristin’s son, Julian.

Jason was so happy to see his bride!

Kristin’s parents looking on.  Her mom has gorgeous eyes just like her!

The Drywater Band was one of the best wedding bands I have seen.

There was lots of dancing to be done.

And people danced.

And the getaway…

I’m so happy for you guys.  You’re finally married!!!  I hope you had a wonderful time on your transatlantic cruise.  I can’t wait to hear about it!

With love,

Rachel

And for your viewing pleasure…  Me smushed up against the ceiling to get a photo.

The second shooter for both this wedding and then the day’s wedding (blog post coming soon!), Kris Fulk!  She is also a great friend that will help you put on your bracelets.  That’s why I keep her around!

My assistant for the day, Amy Reed, gettin’ the shot.

Abbott – Sugar Land Senior Portraits – Austin High School

So, I’ve decided I love doing senior sessions.  They are some of my favorite because you have a young person, totally excited about the coming time in their life, who usually have an awesome sense of style!  Abbott didn’t let me down at all!

I mean… Look!  She’s gorgeousssss!

She also is a cool glasses wearer.  I love me a pair of cute glasses!

And some awesome accessories.  I think one of the things that I love about senior sessions is that they love their accessories!

And she has big brown eyes.  I’m totally a sucker for brown eyes!

She’s going to the University of Louisiana in the fall!

What a great day for some portraits!

Her younger brother joined us for a few minutes at the end of our session.  Aren’t they handsome?

And her very proud Mama.

The whole session, Abbott smiled wonderfully, looked beautiful, and was well composed.  I had to show this one just so everyone knows she can be silly as well…

Abbott, thanks for letting me hang out with you last Saturday.  It really was a joy to spend some time with you and your fam!  It was totally worth the severe allergic reaction I had to the spring outdoors.  You’re gorgeous!  Good luck in the future!

With Care,

Rachel

P.S. One more…

Heather, My Baby Sister – Houston Senior Portrait Photographer

Ok guys.  Get ready for a WHOLE LOT of photos.  See, not only do I really really like this person, but she is also beautiful and fantastic.  And dare I mention – gets her fantastic charm from MUAH!  Haha.  Not really.

I cannot believe that my sister is a senior in high school.  Sometimes I still expect her to be little, but I can’t anymore.  I mean, heck, she’s a good four inches taller than me!

Through high school, she’s competed in basketball, track, and volleyball…

But is also on the student counsel and makes awesome grades.

And she’s got the Perry looks!  :-D

The only problem with doing a session with close family is that they know you really well.

Heather tried to run away…

Punch me…

Made crazy faces…

Punched walls…

And smiled REEAAALLLYY BIG.

But in the end…

It was worth it.

Much thanks to my handsome man, Matt, for assisting on this shoot.

Heather, I’m so proud of you and all of your accomplishments, but most of all… I will love you forever and ever little sis.  I’m so glad we’re friends.

Lyon Family Twins!

Sometimes there are just people who are magnetic in their personality and the way they care about others…  Tom and Amber are just those kinds of people.  Ummm… and then they have twins?!?  How could I not love these babies?!  When Stephanie and I flew to Kentucky, we drove up to their house in Lexington with Gabri and spent the weekend with them.  We had so much fun with them and loving on little Wesley and Adellyn.  Enjoy the photos!

One proud Daddy.

The twins got a bath.  Amber is such a good Mom!

I got to steal the babies away from them and do a little session right in their home.   Meet Adellyn…

She’s a charmer!

Cute little toes…

So adorable…

As long as I’ve known Tom and Amber, they’ve had Trinity.

Ready for some heart melting???

‘Cause here it is…

I set little Wesley down and he started making all kinds of faces.  That might be why there are a few more of him because I just could NOT CHOOSE which ones were my favorites!

His little wrinkly forehead…

BIG YAWN!

Now, I normally wouldn’t take a photograph from underneath a persons chin.  But in the case of a baby, it’s adorable.  So enjoy the double chin!

If this doesn’t make you want Christmas again, I don’t know what will.  One of my favorites from the session…

And then yes… I was that horrible photographer who took little babies out into the snow.  But they were such troopers!

Tom and Amber, thanks for being so awesome and having such cute kids.  I love you guys!

With care,

Rachel

Personal Post – Vacation time!

In early December, Stephanie and I flew up to Louisville, Kentucky to visit Gabri, one of our bestest friends in the world!  Along the way we saw our friends Tom and Amber with their beautiful twin babies (next blog post is a session I did with them!), played in the snow, and got some serious shopping done.  I had such a wonderful time of rest and relaxation that I so desperately needed.  Here are a few images from the trip.

My wonderful travelmate, Stephanie.  I think she looks awesome in the snow.  Oh how I love her!

This is Wendy.  She’s Gabri and Matt’s dog.  What a hilarious puppy.  So cute.

I was so excited to see the snow…

As a Texas girl, I love seeing the snow because it’s not a normal thing!  I think I was meant for the cold.  I love scarves, gloves, and coats.

Now before you see this next photo, I just want to say that these girls.  Goodness.  They have my heart.  My life would not be the same without these lovely women.

After taking a few photos, Steph thought it would be a good idea to start a fight.

Our friends Tom and Amber live in Lexington.  We were able to spend the weekend with them and their new babies.  Wesley and Adellyn have my heart.  So cute!

More to come later!

With care,

Rachel

Heather + Ben = Engaged!

Sometimes you just know.

Heather and Ben are a pretty amazing couple.  I’ve known Heather for a few years (she now lives a few streets away from me.  She’s a half-roomie at my house!) and she is an amazing woman of God.  With a firm foundation in Christ, she spurs others into new depths of relationship with God.

Add Ben.  Ben’s newer to our circle of friends.  We all like him already.  Ben and Heather have known each other for a few years, but recently it has become more romantic in it’s intention.

I think what is so special about their relationship is that it appeared when there was no expectation for such, but has grown with intention.  It’s been a magical thing to watch.

We recently found out that Ben is quite ticklish.

During a minute of downtime, I snapped this photo of them.  I love it because they have such a mutual care for each other that comes through when they speak.

My personal favorite.

We lost light super quickly, so Matt and I busted out our off camera flash.  Ba Bam!

ICE CREAM!

And what’s a good trip with friends without a face shaking contest.  Let me know who you think wins!

Personally, I think Matt wins.  Have you ever tried this?  Hilarity will ensure, I promise!

Heather and Ben, thank you for your friendship.  I absolutely adore Heather and I can’t wait to have Ben in Houston to join our circle of friends.  Meanwhile, wedding planning is in full force.  There will be a follow up wedding to this post for my first “destination” wedding in September in Michigan!  Whoop whoop!

With care,

Rachel

Sara + Michael Part II – Riverbend Country Club Wedding Photography

I know all of you had been waiting with baited breath for part II of Sara and Michael’s wedding…  So without further ado, here it is!

Sara and Michael decided to do a first look.  This means that we were able to snap a few photographs while they were able to take a few breaths before the whole thing!  Sara was so excited to see him.  Can you tell?

The families.

The first kiss as husband and wife!

One of my favorite formal photographs ever taken!  I’m just so hilarious apparently…

And I had to put two photos of this first dance.  I loved it.  Father-daughter dances always make me tear up.  I can’t even imagine what my dance with my dad will be like.  We will be buckets of tears…

Ali playing air guitar.  She’s pretty awesome at it.

Now, this is a photograph that I would normally not include in a post, or in the proofs, or anything, but notice on the right hand side…  Our off camera flash created some fun lines looking as though they are shooting out of her eyes.  I love it!

It was a great time!

Matt and I and the lovely bride and groom.  I <3 them!

And I had to get a photograph with Ali as well!

Saying goodbye.

All in all, it was a great night with some amazing people.  Thank you for trusting me with your wedding.  We had a great time!

With care,

Rachel

Sara + Michael = Married! Sugar Land Wedding Photography

I’ve started this blog post a few different times and can’t decide what to say.  Sara and Michael are some pretty awesome people who I have come to really enjoy being around.  Add to that their fun and exciting families and we had a beautiful and fun wedding that I was so thrilled to have the pleasure of photographing.  Sara and Michael were my first engagement session (can be seen here).  My first wedding to be booked.  And then I photographed Sara’s sister, Ali, for her graduation (those great photos are available here).  All in all, I love these guys.

The beautiful invitations made by the bride.  I love paper products…

Sara wrote down her vows and allowed me to read and photograph them.  I love the “TALK SLOWLY!!!!”

The girls got ready at Sara’s parents house.  Their loving cat Charlie watched over us the whole day.

My fabulous friend, Audrey did all the hair for the girls.  She is awesome.  Check out her blog here!  If any brides out there need their hair done, she’s the girl for you.  And she’s hilarious.

Ugh… I love this dress so much.  So beautiful, simple, elegant.  It was perfect for Sara!

Sara gettin’ her hairs did.  :-D

The guys getting ready…

I’m going to end with this one for the night.  More tomorrow!

As Sara finished getting dressed, we turned to see this…  I love when you can see how much the bridesmaids love the bride.  So cute.

See you tomorrow with the rest of the images!
